Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in «Skeleton Crew» as well as other stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s younger siblings is the same one that Chewbacca’s family attends in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). in the movie Crazy Cartoon Cast AniMat: Deadly Old Stupid Bear (2022). I watched the first two episodes and while there is a clear effort to create «goons in space» show me what’s wrong with that? This is a very different take on the existing story in the Star Wars universe. I liked the look and feel of what a suburban town looks like in this world because we’d never seen that before. The town they came from reminded me more of E.T.’s neighborhood than anything we’ve seen in shows recently. The four main characters are typical but likable, each with their own clearly defined roles in the group, and the actors play them well. The pirate atmosphere isn’t necessarily something we’ve seen before, and it adds a bit of a spooky element and an air of danger. If this were an 80s movie, it would fit right in. So far, I’m enjoying it because of the new narrative elements of the Star Wars universe, the hint of nostalgia for the movies from my childhood, and the fact that I get to share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
